Facilitating successful migration to Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform

RELEX Solutions is a leading provider of cutting-edge retail optimization software. Their cloud-native Living Retail Platform delivers pragmatic AI across all retail functions to optimize demand forecasting, inventory, space, workforce, promotions and markdowns at retail scale. Their 250+ customers include leading brands such as AutoZone, Morrisons, PetSmart and Rossmann. RELEX has offices across North America, Europe and the Asia Pacific region.

Solution

Relex needed to migrate one of their applications from AWS to Microsoft Azure Cloud Platform. An important requirement was to make the new solution more cloud platform independent using non-cloud provider proprietary components where applicable. Polar Squad started by creating an architecture that supports the migration. In order to do the transfer, Polar Squad unified container-based environment and took Azure Kubernetes Service into use to ensure fast growth and scalability. Polar Squad supported Relex’s development team and the migration was done successfully.

Results

The first migration has proceeded as planned, and the new Azure-based service is in the use of the first customer who has thousands of users on a daily basis. The collaboration between Polar Squad and Relex is continuing, and new services will be migrated, more load tests will be done and Polar Squad continues to support the success of Relex with Azure and the Kubernetes platform.
